Greening a community health facility: tree planting at the Dakwadwom CHPS compound

Volunteers planting trees at the Dakwadwom CHPS compound

Community-led conservation is about ordinary people taking practical steps for their own surroundings. At the Dakwadwom CHPS compound, a Ghana Health Service facility, volunteers recently did exactly that by preparing planting pits, setting out seedlings and planting them together.

Why plant trees at a health facility?

Trees give shade, help make surroundings cooler and more pleasant for patients, staff and visitors, and turn bare ground into green space that the community can look after for years to come.

Community-led, hands-on

Activities like this are central to our Community-Led Conservation focus area, where we mobilise community volunteers and youth for hands-on environmental work. See more pictures on our Our Work in Pictures page.
